I got my bathroom mirrors!
They are THESE mirrors from Urban Outfitters. Mirrors are so expensive I’ve realized! Or probably I’m just cheap, but these were the best I could find for my money. (I have since seen some really awesome mirrors of a similar style at HomeGoods. I would have liked them better because they were a little bigger, but oh well.) I do really like the way they are working in the space. It’s much better than what we had before. You might also notice the new hand towels! I’ve been obsessed with Turkish hand towels for a little over a year now, and when I found a pack of them at HomeGoods for $4, I couldn’t say no! I love love love the way they look. The stripes are an improvement from the plain white towels I had before.
I also filled my picture frames! I picked up a beautiful piece of paper at Paper Source. I went with a blue marbled paper. If you have never thought about Paper Source for framed art you should check it out. I got a large sheet of paper for $8. They have some beautiful paper there.
I opted to go ahead and file three of the four frames with the paper. Since each section of paper is different I felt like each part was frame worthy. I may eventually change some of them out for other art, (I didn’t feel like the bathroom was an appropriate place for family pictures. That’s just weird.) but for now I’m enjoying each one of these marbled prints framed.
There you have it. The finished (until the real overhaul) bathroom!
I’m an image junky. One of my interior design professors way back when once said that, “all great designers bombard themselves with images of great spaces.” I’ve really taken that theory to heart, and now it’s such an easy thing to do with things like Pinterest. I spend lots and lots of time on Pinterest. Today, I thought it might be fun to change up my image gathering tactic a bit. I decided it would be fun to pick my five favorite images in each room category from pins I had already pinned. I thought you all might like to see, too! A bunch of beautiful house images are always fun!

So I’ve showed you our “so so” bathroom. We are going to let the bathroom be, since we hope to not be in this house much longer. I can’t keep myself from daydreaming about what I would do if we were to renovate it, though. Yeah, It does make letting it be a little harder, but I can’t help myself. “What ifs” are just too much fun for me!
So, here’s the low down. Our bathtub is relatively new so we’d leave that alone, but we’d rip down the plastic shower surround and tile the shower walls with the same beveled edge subway tile we used in the kitchen. We’d rip out the current sinks and replace them with two of the sink bases from IKEA I have pictured below. I would definitely go white with the bases, because I love crisp, clean, white in a bathroom, and I love the drawers in the sink bases. It would certainly help with our much needed bathroom storage. I would absolutely die to put in gold faucets and accents. The slate tile floor would stay there because there’s really nothing wrong with it. It’s a really pretty floor. Above each sink I would want a circular mirror with a wooden frame to bring in a wood accent. We would replace the trim around our current bead board walls with a wider more substantial trim and paint all the walls a soft, light, muddy, sea foam green color. Lastly, I’d add fluffy white towels with a minimal strip accent.
Are you catching the vision? Here’s what the bathroom currently looks like. In case you forget.
I desperately wish I could put this plan into action, but we know it’s just not worth the money we would spend, and we’d get no time to really enjoy the renovation. Oh well…. a girl can dream. Here are some beautiful bathrooms to help you dream!
I’ve been a bit reluctant to share with everyone our bathroom for two reasons.
1. It’s not our style at all.
2. It feels a little strange to invite everyone in to the place that we poo! It’s just weird!
I guess that’s what this blog is all about, though. Inviting you into our home…even the place where we poo. So here it is, our bathroom:
Shane and I have done very little to the bathroom in the 5+ years we’ve owned the house. Several years ago we did put in a new slate tile floor in place of the old vinyl, and took out the old medicine cabinet and replaced it with this more modern one. We also replaced the old faucets, and painted…several times.
That’s me making a guest appearance in the mirror. (Bed hair and all.)
I did also add some hanging planters, because I just love plants.
I’ve tried to make the best of a really terrible storage situation with a few baskets that house makeup, hair product and tools, and other bathroom odds and ends. It’s not ideal, but it works.
Our bathroom isn’t terrible, but it’s not our style at all. If we were going to stay in the house longer we’d definitely be doing a bathroom overhaul. I’ll probably show you just what I would do to our little bathroom if I could eventually, because it’s fun to dream anyway!
