Wright Brothers Inspired House

I’ve been SERIOUSLY enjoying some family time, lately! My hubby has been home for a week and a half now, and we’re settling into really normal mundane family life…and I love it! Β Part of our completely normal and boring routine is evening Netflix. We’ve been watching (and LOVING) a show called American Genius. It’s all about American inventors and innovators. It’s seriously so inspiring to us. Maybe we’re weird? Anyway, one of the episodes was about the Wright Brothers, which got me a little extra inspired since they were born literally minutes from where I grew up. One of my design philosophies is that spaces should be inspiring, and the Wright Brothers got me thinking about a whole new type of inspiring space, and now I’m designing an entire house around the idea of flight for the very first time. I mean nothing is more inspiring to me than people who achieved the “impossible.”

I plan to show you all the designs as I pull them together, but here are some of my initial thoughts and ideas.

Definitely, plan on using art that is the Wright Brothers testing and working on their gliders. How freaking cool?

Aviation inspired furniture and decor definitely isn’t a new thing. Um, hello Restoration Hardware! I’m thinking a bit more subtle, though. Less of an aviation theme and more of a turn of the century industry theme.

Are you catching the vibe I’m throwing out? I honestly can’t wait to put the whole thing together and show you what I end up with! Β Hmm, which room should I start first?!
