It’s becoming increasingly clear that we need a leather couch. Well, by “need” I mean I really really WANT a leather couch. It would make my life so much easier. I fed Jolie some cheese filled crackers (I’m trying milk again…Everyone cross your fingers that tonight isn’t filled with hours and hours of screaming and farting.) on the couch… bad idea. Very bad idea. Sure the couch came clean, but now I’m sitting on wet spots. If I was smart I would have just learned my snack lesson and vowed to have a “no food on the couch” policy, but I just don’t see myself as that type of mom. (Not that that is bad at all. It’s smart. You “no food in the living room” moms are smart.) I just always want to keep my house useable and let’s be honest, I’m for sure going to snack on the couch. I don’t want there to be that blatantly obvious double standard. We’re probably not going to eat soup on the couch, but you know, some snacks here and there. Cheese cracker filing would wipe right off a leather couch no problemo. I
kind of really hate our couch, anyway. Sorry all you Ikea Karlstad fans. It sucks. Totally. Sucks.
It looks sloppy, and Shane and I wore a serious dent into the chaise cushion the first winter we had it. We did some crazy hours of Netflix binging the entire winter. The cushions are completely stained, too. You have to look hard but they have darker wear on the spots we sit most. I’ve pre-scrubbed and washed them a billion times. No luck. It would be a great couch for a basement, or a kids playroom or something, but not my living room. It’s just so disappointing, because we’ve only had it a few years. I’m dreaming of kicking it to the curb. Actually we’d keep it in storage until the day we move to a bigger house and might want it.
This is what I really want!
It’s the Hamilton Leather Sofa from West Elm, but at $2400 it’s not likely I’ll get it any time soon. How loverly, though?! I love the color. I’m kind of over the chaise on our couch. It just eats up floor space, and when people come over no one wants to sit there. It’s weird to just come right in and kick your feet up in someone else’s house. I get it. It’s nice on movie nights, but really that’s about it. I’m ready to go back to just a regular couch.
Then, there is the Axel Leather Sofa from West Elm. I really love this one, too. I love the modern lines, but also I can’t decide if I think the lines are a bit too modern. It’s really a toss up between the two.
I’ve had a crush on this couch from One King’s Lane for so long. It’s a bazillion dollars, though. I think it’s lovely in theory, but I do think I’d eventually get sick of it since it does have such a specific style to it.
This mushroom colored leather couch from Crate and Barrel, had me suddenly questioning my previous picks. It’s so not the color I would have thought I would go for, but I love light colored couches, and leather allows for that possibility. I’m still on the fence about loving it, but it throw me a curve ball for sure!
It’s all just a pipe dream, I don’t think we will be purchasing a new couch in the immediate future. Well, unless I keep letting Jolie eat whatever the heck she wants to eat on the couch. Then we might have to. I guess I should tighten up the reigns a bit for now. I like thinking ahead, though. When It’s a big purchase like a couch it’s good to really think it through.
