Last week this happened to me…
My ring finger got stung by a wasp. I immediately took my rings off, because I have a fear of my rings getting stuck. My finger swelled up for about 2 hours then went completely back to normal. I thought it was all said and done so I put my rings back on. When I woke up the next morning like this, I flipped!!!!!!! My husband and I tried every Youtube method out there. I went to the doctor. I went to the EMS ambulance station. All day long my poor finger got wrapped and yanked. The rings weren’t coming off. I wasn’t loosing circulation, it was just incredibly uncomfortable and worst of all played with my mind and my rings-completely-stuck-on-my-finger fear. I’m the type of person who slides their ring past their knuckle at least 10 times a day just to make sure they aren’t stuck, and here I was in this situation. I called my husband twice in tears saying I was ready to have the rings cut off, but then I just kept thinking…I’ll give it just a few more hours. I just couldn’t bare the thought off having my rings cut. I know it’s really no big deal and totally fixable, but I just couldn’t do it! Shane and I had only been married 13 days earlier!!!
So I waited, and iced, and elevated it, and cried a little. I was miserable! There’s really only a few things that could even remotely bring me out of a state that miserable. One of those things is a new rug…
maybe you’ll remember me telling you about the massive sale that was going on at Rugsusa.com. I couldn’t pass that opportunity up, and i was in desperate need for just a little retail therapy! I ended up with this teal rug for our bedroom.
I hoped I would really love it, and kept reminding myself that by the time it was delivered to my front door the finger nightmare would be a thing of the past. I needed that light at the end of the tunnel. Plus, it was a seriously good deal!!
I saved $364.00 and got free shipping!! What? $156.00 is not too shabby for a 5’5”x8’2” rug!
I had originally been eying this rug from Lulu&Georgia, but glad I’m glad I hadn’t pulled the trigger on that!
I thought it was priced wall at $280, but I’ll take $156 instead! I was excited about the brighter color of the rug I bought, too.
It just so turns out that the rug showed up at the front door within minutes of me finally prying my wedding rings from my finger. I was overjoyed and relieved, and then my rug came and I was overjoyed all over again!
I set the rug up and was feeling fairly good about it….then Shane came home. Dun Dun Dun… he doesn’t like it.
I thought I was happy with it, and then he totally blindsided me with disapproval.
Remember, soon the black curtains will be replaced with white closet doors.
Shane feels like it is too bright, and I get his point. Our entire house is pretty calm and monochromatic. So, this thing does kind of slap you in the face when you walk through the bedroom door. He also cites “it doesn’t really fit our style” as a reason for his dislike.
I have to say…I personally wish it was just a hint bigger, but we have heat register issues that prevent us from getting anything bigger. On one side of the room is a register, and on the other side, is a return vent that just can’t be covered up. So, we are a stuck with a tiny-bit-too-small-for-the-room rug. It probably photographs a little more awkwardly small than it feels in real life. In real time it doesn’t feel way too small…just a little maybe. That’s a problem that there just really seems to be no way around. We obviously have bigger problems anyway…like an unsure hubby. My sister also confirmed that it maybe felt too bright for the space…FAIL. Sometimes you just miss the mark I guess. I’m still on the fence I think. I don’t hate it, but I do see their point. I still kinda have a vision of it working, but maybe I’m just totally off. I guess that’s what you get when you make emotional, please-make-my-finger-feel-better purchases. It completely throws you off your game… It looks like I might be returning this thing or maybe selling it.
What do you guys think? Did I miss the mark?
