As promised….Here’s a picture of the baby bump pillow cover I made and the pillow on the bed!
Perhaps, you spy a couple of new things going on in our bedroom?! Here’s a picture of our bedroom before a recent refresher.
And here she is now…
Yup, we bought a bed. I’ve been wanting a bed for a while now, but really just couldn’t bring myself to spend the money. We had talked about Shane building us one, but he just has too many irons in the fire already. The more I thought about it, the more I decided I really needed a comfy headboard to lean up against for middle-of-the-night breastfeeding. We didn’t have a headboard at all before, and it was a bit awkward to sit up in bed due to the windows and blinds at the head of the bed.
So…The bed hunt began. Honestly, the hunt was painful. I really really really didn’t want to spend a lot of money, and I really really really had a hard time finding something that was budget friendly. Most everything I found was at a minimum $400. I just did not want to spend that much at all. While I found a ton I loved, but they were out of the question because of price.
Talk about gorgeous simplicity but $1000? No way.
I love these tufted wingback beds, but even at 50% off, there was still no way.
Everywhere I looked, it was more of the same…Beds I absolutely loved at prices I absolutely wouldn’t pay.
I even considered just a headboard, even though I really wanted an entire bed. They still were more than I really wanted to spend considering I wasn’t getting what I really wanted.
I had really about given up hope, after I checked several different Craig’s List cities and found nothing I was thrilled about. Then, I found this…
And the angel choir sang! I literally hadn’t found anything even close to that, and to top it off I actually really loved it. It is a padded faux leather, and I felt like it really fit our style. It was a bit of a gamble ordering something like that online, but I was willing to risk it.
When we first opened the box, I have to say I was pretty disappointed with the color. The description says it’s camel colored and it’s not. It’s really more of a true brown. I knew I wasn’t going to go through the hassle of returning it so we set it up anyway.
Once it was all set up, I was even more disappointed in the color. It just wasn’t working with our bedding. So, I played switcheroo with some bedding we already had, made the body pillow, and it was SO MUCH BETTER!
As far as the quality of the bed, I’m actually really happy with it! It was decently easy to assemble, and it feels nice and sturdy. I think it will really last us a long time. The faux leather doesn’t scream faux one bit. We did have a missing leg issue. Since it was just a missing support leg under the bed, Shane just cut a piece of wood to use instead. I’m sure we could have called Target and gotten them to ship us another leg, but it that seemed like too much work. No, the color wasn’t what I expected, but I’m falling more and more in love with this bed anyway!
Along with the new bed, I did buy some $10, for the pair, plain white curtains from IKEA. They seem to work better than the slightly patterned ones we had before. We still need to build closet doors more than ever! The black curtains just don’t work with the brown bed. The good news is the closet doors might happen sooner than I had originally anticipated! Shane is now working close to home. So, he will have nights and weekends to tackle some projects on our to-do list. Closet doors are definitely high on the list! At this point the plan is white closet doors with a touch of brass loveliness. I’m super duper excited for them!
Maybe you noticed something else new, too. New bedside lamps. I thought this might also come in handy for late night baby feedings and changing. Now, I won’t have to fumble around in the dark. They are THESE lamps from IKEA. They are the same line as the pendants in our kitchen, so they are very similar.
The new bedrooms lights are wall mounted instead.
We are loving the look of them and enjoying how functional they are! We haven’t even fought over who has to get up and turn off the bedroom light off in like a week!
So, there it is…Our newest additions to the bedroom. I’m loving the space 1000x more! Plus having a bed makes me feel like a real grown up! haha. Now…I’m imagining a beautiful huge rug….I always have some change in mind!
Can’t you imagine it really pulling the space together, though?! I can for sure!
