Contemplating a Bit More Color….

I know I’ve been MIA for quite some time now, but it’s hard to keep up with a blog about your home when you are never home! Shane and I have spent the past few months in Richmond, VA. (I have yet to run into Young House Love’s the Petersik’s, but I’m still crossing my fingers.) Shane is working there, and while I’ve really enjoyed the area, I’ve really missed being home and working on some house projects. I think it’s safe to say my “nesting phase” has also started so I’m feeling even more pulled to home! The good news is I’m home…for a bit anyway. I’ve been able to squeeze in just a few house projects and daydreaming about plenty more! I’ll be updating you on a few small little projects I squeezed in at some point, but for now, I’m going to share with you some of my daydreaming.

So on one of my daily blog reads I recently saw this…

Here’s the link where you can find out more about this wonderful eye candy:

I’ve been contemplating adding a bit of color back into our house. I think I needed a clean slate to work with for a while, but now I think I’m ready to start experimenting a bit with color here and there. Then I saw this picture and I just loved it. I Love Love Love this space. I’ve always been a big fan of baguette seating, when done right. I love the idea of sitting around the dinner table chatting because it’s just too comfy to get up. I’ve often wondered if we would be able to squeeze a little banquette seating into our own tiny dining space.

I imagine bench seating on three sides of our current round table with lots of comfy pillows. It would be tough to squeeze it all in but maybe not impossible. I know that’s a project that would be way down on the list of project priority, though. So I imagine we will be sticking with what we’ve got for a while. More importantly the eye candy photo got me thinking more about color and adding it to our stark white spaces.

Our living room currently looks like this…

While we have a bit of color, it isn’t much and I’m kinda hungry for more!

I’ve been wanting to trade out our nautical flag behind the couch for a while now. Maybe for some colorful artwork like so…

I even love the bright lamp!

I like just little pops of color. Like the orange below…

I’m literally sooooooo in love with this pillow as a pop of color in this totally white bedroom…

Certainly, don’t expect color to puke all over my house. White it still by best friend, followed by black and gray, but I am hoping to add just a bit of color here and there in the coming days. We shall see what I come up with.
