Air Plant Birthday

Shane got me air plants for my birthday! I got a whole box of them shipped to our door. Let me just say…I LOVE them! I’m a little plant obsessed, though. Excuse me while I share WAY too many pictures of my new beautiful air plants.

Yeah…Sorry that was definitely WAY too many plant pictures, but I wanted to show you the beautiful variety Shane picked out for me! I really only wanted 4 air plants, but I ended up with 12! I won’t complain, though. I REALLY REALLY love them!

So what are air plants? They are plants that don’t require soil. They grow in the air. All they require is to be bathed in water once a week and an occasional mist. Luckily, these guys came with directions.

I followed the directions and soaked them in a big bowl for 30 minutes. Then I let them dry out on a towel. My plan is to repeat this process every Saturday.

“Why the heck do you want air plants?” You may ask… Um…I just like them! I had these olive boats from a baby shower that I decorated, and I thought they would look really cute with air plants in them, because who really uses olive boats for olives? Not this girl!

I really really love the way they look on my dining room table. I also really love air plants in clear glass vases. We have several of these little glasses that we don’t use all that often. I decided to sacrifice 3 of them for air plant vases.

Is that not adorable? They are to me anyway. I have them sitting on the cabinet the TV sits on in the living room. I also really wanted an air plant for the little turtle that I recently inherited from my grandpa. He sits on my kitchen window sill, and he just seems happier now that he’s carrying a new air plant.

I have a few more scattered about. I’ll have to get pictures of them eventually. Happy birthday (belated) to me!!! 🙂
